Social Emotional Learning
CASEL is the Collaborative for Social and Emotional Learning. They believe that "social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions".
Their competencies align so well with what school counselors do in the classroom...in their comprehensive school counseling programs, it's hard to understand why school counselor would not utilize their resources.
